Description

Summary:

This position directs and provides analyses that will assistance Health & Network Management. The incumbent provides in depth knowledge of current health care payment methodology used by commercial and Medicare. This position also conducts analysis using a wide variety of data, develops conclusions and recommendations and present results to network negotiations that can help from a cost and quality perspective.

Accountabilities:

1. Performs data analysis that can be used for negotiations and be shared with providers
2. Develops mathematical model templates that can be used with other departments to predict impact of negotiations
3. Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed
4. Works with outside vendors to develop a standard methodology that can be used internally and externally with Network Management
5. Prepares PowerPoint presentations that does a peer comparison of providers and payers in the network to show the value of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota
6. Leads area for understanding of Methodology for implementation for providers in the market
7. Extracts and summarizes data, and make recommendations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in financial, economics, or related field and 5 years of experience in analysis
- Strong oral and written communications skills required
- Excellent PC skills required
- Needs to have Extensive Excel experience with formula, pivot tables, and advanced features
- Above average experience and knowledge with SQL, SAS or other database features such as Oracle, and/or SAS
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access.
- Extensive knowledge of Healthcare Payment Methodology such as RBRVS, DRG, APR_DRG, EAPG, CPT Codes, APC
- Demonstrated ability to design, evaluate and interpret complex data sets
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities
- Demonstrated analytic and problems solving skills
- Knowledge of BCBSM databases or industry knowledge required
- Self –directed, ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize information from variety of sources regarding complete healthcare industry issues

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in Business, or a related field, and 5 years of relevant experience in a health plan or provider setting.
